William C. Bennett Passes

I remember Mr. Bennett at Bishop Feild College. He was the caretaker and I saw him every day for ten years just like one of our teachers. Condolences from all Feildians go out to his son Cyril "Hopper" Bennett and his wife Linda.

Hey! Hooper, we are having a lunch on the 20th. December at 12:00 at Dick Cook's Winterholme. All the boys would love to see you. If you're in town come on by.

November Lunch

I saw lots of new faces at Wendy's on Monday 22 November. Vic Janes was there. Roy Saunders showed up. It was great to see Tubby Collins and Spike Noseworthy. These guys were gone from Feild when I went so I would like to know how they got their nicknames. Sully was there even though he was recuperating from his ladder fall. He's getting better.

It is always a pleasure to see Bill Neal at our lunches and Ches Parsons. It's wonderful to see everyone and let's keep our lunches going so that we can keep in touch. Try to bring along another Feildian at the next lunch which by the way will be at Winterholme, December 20 at 12:00 PM. Dick Cook, thanks for offering your place for our Christmas lunch.

Boys don't forget to bring along a few dollars to help offset the lunch which I know Dick will supply. Fellas, would somebody call George Stockley and get him to come along.

Also I want to thank Millar Ewing, Bill Neal, Graham Skanes and Gerry Russell for the donations they have made of Feildian memorabilia to the Archive.

Below is a list of the boys who attended Monday's lunch.

June Dinner

On Monday, June 14 a growing number of Feildians met at Bob Noseworthy's Wendy's for our monthly get together. New faces appeared such as Dr. Ralph Butler, Keith Garland, Bill Abraham and Paul Facey. It was wonderful to see those boys and would like to see more. If I have forgotten anyone new who came I am sorry. I hope that all of you who read this blog will try to get someone new to come along.

Gerry Russell brought along a picture of the 1954-55 football team. Thanks Gerry. I took it and got some copies made for the boys who asked me.

Our next meeting will be held on Monday, July 26 and I am hoping to have it in the school. I am trying to work out the details with Ms. Puddester, the principal. Spread the word.

Back Home

Hi fellas.

My wife and I had a great time in Florida and are now back home. While I was a way there was a service for our dear teacher Mrs. Abraham at The Cathedral. I was so sorry to have missed that but a kind friend of mine who attended brought the order of the service and dropped it off to the house. I hope that some of you attended to see her off. She was quite a woman and only in my adult years did I really understand that. It was the same with Eric Caines, my grade seven teacher. We had a nickname for him "Pop" when he taught us. He was a fine teacher who gave us the very best instruction especially in Mathematics. He was a gentleman and later when I started teaching he gave me lots of good advice.

I hope all of you are well. Any thoughts for a fall dinner somewhere??? Let me know of any ideas.

Billy Martin Day at Winterholme

On Monday passed, March 29, we had another gathering of Feildians. This time our get-together was at Winterholme in St. John's. Dick Cook provided the venue and the food. This was an especially good time because Bill Martin who had been very ill during the winter was able to join us. He looked wonderful and he continues to make a full recovery. Bill has always been in good shape and that his helped him get through this difficult time. Welcome back Bill.

Another Old Feildian was able to join us also. Mr. Ches Parsons who was Games Master between 1946-52 had relocated from Nova Scotia where he taught Physical Education until his retirement. Upon the passing of his dear wife Helen he came back to the land of his birth. It was wonderful to see him.

Also coming to our gatherings for the first time was Stan Breen. Stan it was wonderful to see you and we hope that you will continue to attend. Gerry Bishop, Billy Coultas, Bruce Tilley and Bill Ryan were also here for the first time.

For me, who did not play on a Feildian team, it was wonderful to be able to talk to these Feildian heroes. I hope to put their stories and anecdotes on our archive web site.

Lastly , we couldn't have been more happier to see Charlie Riddle, coach of the Feildian basaeball team in the 50's and 60's, with us. Charlie is in the red shirt and has his cane. I believe he will be 92 this year. Go Charlie! Below is a list of all the boys who were there.

Mrs. Abraham is eighty

In November our dear Kdg. teacher, Mrs. Abraham,(seen below) turned 80. Some of her boys went to her house at St. Luke’s Homes to wish her well. My brother Gordon and I see Ann the first Sunday of every month as we sing at the chapel in St. Luke’s for the residents while Ann plays the organ. Several other old boys came for a visit and among them were the Anderson boys, Tom, Tim and Bill. Chris Facey was there also. In the picture below left is Ann's daughter, Phillipa Warren and Chris Facey.

Here are the Anderson boys. Dick Anderson, not in photo, was in my class at Feild.

Ann had a cup of tea and goodies for all and a donation jar to which we contributed for one of her causes. Many more birthdays Mrs. Abraham.
